7 Remote Facebook Jobs and Money Making Opportunities

If you’re searching for remote jobs with Facebook (also known as Meta), this post has you covered!

You probably know Facebook as one of the world’s largest social media platforms. But did you know that Meta owns subsidiaries like Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, Threads, WhatsApp, Meta Quest, Workplace, and others? With this massive reach comes many ways to forge your work from home career path with the tech giant!

If you enjoy spending time on Facebook and would like to work from home, here are some remote Facebook jobs and money-making opportunities, as well as scams that you need to know about.

1. Social Media Evaluation Jobs

Much like a Search Engine Evaluator or an Ad Rater, in this role, you will log on to social media sites, like Facebook, to search for keywords and terms for quality and relevancy. But before you can begin, you must pass an online assessment test, which I’ve heard is quite challenging. For these roles, you must be detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and up-to-date on current trends. You can apply for these freelance jobs on CrowdGen by AppenRWS, TELUS Digital, and Welocalize. In these positions, you’ll work as an independent contractor, but you’ll have a lot of flexibility, because you can work when you want (as long as you meet your deadlines). These companies hire workers from all around the world.

2. Facebook Ads Manager

If you’ve figured out the key to running effective Facebook ads, there are lots of business owners who will pay you handsomely to run, manage, and evaluate their Facebook ads. These positions are sometimes called Paid Media Specialists or Digital Ad Specialists. You can find these remote jobs on sites like FlexJobsBraftonIZEA, and Raptive.

Another way to work as a Facebook Ads Manager is by starting your own Facebook Ads Management Agency from home. If you’re not sure where to start, Bobby Hoyt created a course called the Facebook Side Hustle, which teaches you how to manage small business owners’ Facebook ads. Although I haven’t taken the course myself or reviewed it, it comes highly recommended by my friend Kristin from Believe in a Budget.

3. Social Media Moderator

As a Facebook Moderator, you will oversee Facebook groups and pages to ensure that group rules are followed, questions are answered, and spammers are kept at bay. In this role, you won’t be working for Facebook directly; instead, you’ll work for business owners and creators who need assistance with their Facebook pages and groups.

4. Social Media Manager

Social Media Management is an all-encompassing position where you’ll create content, respond to queries, run and evaluate social media campaigns, moderate content, and much more. Typically, you can secure these jobs with a marketing degree, social media experience, or by completing an online course. Often, for these roles, you’ll need to be familiar with multiple platforms such as Twitter (X), LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Snapchat, as well as Facebook and Instagram.

Meta offers a wide variety of remote marketing roles, allowing you to start your job search there. You can also find social media positions at marketing agencies and large and small companies alike. Staffing agencies like Robert Half and Kelly Services are excellent for finding one-off remote job opportunities as well.

If you want more control over your time, providing freelance social media services is a great option. You can post your services on sites like Hubstaff Talent, Upwork, or Fiverr, or you can pitch clients directly. 5. Content Creator, Influencer, or Publisher

If you’re a content creator who enjoys creating unique content online, Facebook offers various options to monetize your content and expand your influence.

Currently, Facebook has a few in-house monetization methods for creators, which include:

  • Ads on Videos and Stories
  • Earn Stars From Live Videos
  • Fan Subscriptions
  • Music Revenue Sharing
  • Branded Content

To make money with these methods, you’ll need to be a well-established Brand, Content Creator, Influencer, or Business on Facebook with at least 10,000 followers. Each monetization method has specific criteria that you’ll need to meet before you can apply to the program, but once you meet those milestones, you can apply for consideration.

I’m unsure how they choose who gets into each program, but I’m currently enrolled in content monetization, and I’ve earned about $175 over the last year. I’m not all that active on Facebook, but if you are, I think it could add up quickly. I don’t ever go live on Facebook, and I’ve not tried subscriptions or music revenue sharing. However, if you decide to create content for Facebook, you can repurpose it for TikTok and YouTube, both of which offer monetized content programs.

You can also monetize your Facebook influence through affiliate marketing or by selling your own products directly on Facebook. Whether you want to create branded merch or sell printables, ebooks, courses, or services, there are many ways to make money from your Facebook audience with Facebook Commerce and Facebook Appointments.

6. Sell Stuff on Facebook Marketplace

One nice feature about Facebook is the ability to buy and sell goods for free using Facebook Marketplace. To access Facebook Marketplace, you’ll need a personal Facebook account and profile. Once you’re logged in, navigate to the little shop icon and use the search filters to add an item or browse products. You can find just about any category under the sun, including cars, clothing, electronics, toys, entertainment, free stuff, and even buy and sell groups.

To sell an item, just follow the prompts, adding a keyword-rich description and some high-quality photos. When a person is interested in the item you’re selling, you’ll receive a message via Facebook Messenger. Facebook Marketplace is completely free for users to use; however, you will need to arrange a pickup spot to exchange the item for cash.

Like anything else, you need to protect yourself from scammers.

If you accept cash, make sure it isn’t counterfeit. Don’t accept checks or hand the product over without proper payment. You can also view the individual’s profile to see if they have any real contacts or if their profile looks fake. Facebook Marketplace offers suggestions here for avoiding scams.

7. Remote Facebook Jobs

If you’re interested in working as a Facebook employee, they offer a variety of remote jobs, full-time positions, and internships that you can apply for! Facebook hires remote employees from the United States, Canada, Europe, India, and Brazil, and most positions are location-dependent.

Visit their site to find new jobs, then select the “location” and “remote” search inputs. Facebook hires in many different career areas, such as AI, Advertising Technology, Business Development, Communications, Data, Design, Engineering, Finance, Legal, Operations, People, Research, Sales, Marketing, Interns, VR, and more!

If you’re not finding a relevant occupation in their current selection of job openings, create a Career Profile. Here you can get personalized job alerts, coding puzzles, and guidance from the Meta AI recruiting assistant.

For non-remote employees, Facebook has a hybrid work model where in-person employees get to work from home three days a week. It also sounds like most managers are pretty flexible when it comes to scheduling.

Besides embracing remote work and being an equal opportunity employer, Meta offers many benefits to its employees, including health and wellness plans, paid family leave, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, equity, pay transparency, and more!

Watch Out for Remote Facebook Job Scams

Because so many people want to work for Facebook, scammers like to take advantage of this eagerness by promoting fake Facebook jobs. On the Scam Detector, he mentions two, one being “Facebook Fortunes Home Income Flow” and the other being “Facebook Bonanza.”

When you click the apply button for these opportunities, you will be directed to a landing page where you’ll need to enter your credit card information to obtain the starter kit. It’s like the Easy Google Profits scam that was running rampant a few years ago. Once they have your credit card info, your account continues to be charged month after month for this bogus information.

The other employment scam you must watch out for is impostors pretending to be Facebook’s recruiting team. With this type of scam, you may receive an email, text, or phone call saying that Facebook wants to interview you for a remote job. However, it’s not Facebook. It’s a scam artist pretending to be Facebook. Legit companies don’t use free email accounts like Gmail, Hotmail, and Yahoo, and they’re not going to interview on third-party messaging apps like Telegram, Signal, and WhatsApp.

When you’re uncertain if a job is legit or not, take your time to research the opportunity extensively. Look at websites like the Better Business Bureau and Glassdoor.com, which can offer you a wealth of information. If a recruiter is contacting you, verify their identity on LinkedIn, and make sure they are using a professional, branded email address. You should also track all of your applications so you know if you applied for the job or not. If you need a system to keep you on track and safe from scams, check out the Work From Home Career Planner.
