Some types of remote work are far more desirable than others. So, if you are tired of seeing job posts that demand a degree, years of experience, and not enough pay, I have good news — there are actually plenty of good leads out there! But they can be hard to find if you don’t know where to look.
Today, I’m sharing real examples of remote jobs by category: overnight shifts, flexible schedule roles, non-phone work, those with benefits, and roles that don’t require a degree. You can use this list to see what might fit you!
And near the end, I’ll show you how you can get access to a much bigger list of ideal remote jobs with dozens of remote jobs. Think of today’s list as your sampler!
Overnight Remote Jobs
If you are a night owl or have daytime commitments that prevent you from working traditional hours, you’ll be happy to know there are many companies that need people in the evening and overnight!
- Smith.ai – Smith.ai is hiring remote virtual receptionists. They operate 24/7 365 days per year and hire for both full- and part-time so you can likely work overnight or evening hours.
- Liveops – This is a company that offers very flexible scheduling, and a lot of people who are new to phone work from home get started here. It’s possible to schedule yourself in blocks of time as short as 30 minutes, and getting middle of the night hours may be possible since you are very much in control of your own schedule. However, a reader has let us know that they most often contract between the hours of 9am and 9pm.
- Alorica – Like LiveOps, Alorica lets you set your own hours so it may be possible to work in the middle of the night for them. If you can’t get overnight hours, you should still be able to frequently get evening shift.
Flexible Schedule Remote Jobs
These are roles you can do without a strict 9-to-5 as well. You can pick hours or work in blocks that suit you!
- Metaverse – Work from home community/social media moderation work where you can schedule your own hours. This company is also listed under phone jobs because they regularly hire for customer support positions which may involve the use of a phone.
- 3 Play Media – Work from home editing transcripts. You can log on and off and do the work at your leisure provided there is work available to do and you will commit to at least 15 hours a week.
- Aira – This company hires independent contractors in the US to participate in voice chats with the blind and visually impaired for the purpose of helping them complete everyday tasks. Pay may be around $15 hourly, and you can benefit from a flexible schedule.
Remote Jobs With Benefits
These are remote roles that offer perks like health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, or other employee benefits.
- OneSupport – This company offers remote customer service roles with benefits like health insurance, paid leave, and 401(k) matching.
- Foundever – Foundever lists at-home customer service jobs, often including access to benefits and remote work support.
- Rippl Care – They advertise remote jobs (no phone or low phone-based tasks) that include health benefits, vision, dental, and paid time off.
Non-Phone Remote Jobs
These jobs don’t require you to talk on the phone; you might only use chat, email, or backend systems to communicate. Ideal if you are not a people person.
- The Content Panel – Content Writers. Worldwide! Must be a native English speaker. Strong grammar skills and research skills required, as well as some knowledge of content marketing and SEO. Pay is weekly and sent via Paypal, so you’ll need a Paypal account.
- TELUS – Work from home search engine evaluation and other non-phone task work. Work whenever you want up to 20 hours per week.
- Same Day Transcriptions – Research Transcriber. US. They’re looking for professional transcriptionists with experience with interview transcription, especially in the areas of research. If you have done work in healthcare sciences (not to be confused with medical dictation), even better.
Remote Jobs Not Requiring a Degree
You don’t always need a college degree to land a good remote job. Here are a few that don’t require one:
- Working Solutions – Working Solutions has a decent reputation among people who do phone work at home. There’s more variety in the work than you’ll find with many other call-center gigs because you get to sign up for different projects, and the pay will vary depending on the client.
- Belay – Belay is a well-known company in the remote work space with a solid reputation for treating contractors well. As a virtual executive assistant, you might handle things like scheduling, inbox management, travel arrangements, and light project coordination. The work is consistent and professional, and Belay offers training and support once you’re matched with a client.
- Assembly Health – Assembly Health is often hiring call center representatives to handle high-volume inbound calls, assist patients with billing questions, update insurance and account info, process payments, and work with both providers and collection agencies. You’ll be expected to communicate professionally, multitask across digital systems, and contribute to a smooth patient experience. The company provides training, ongoing development, and a supportive virtual work environment.
It goes without saying, but finding the ideal remote job for you will take time and effort. Still, there is something for almost everyone! The jobs I’ve listed above are just the tip of the iceberg.
